Plans with Plus Parents Buy Up
Your employer worked with MetLife Legal Plans to offer a choice of two plan designs for your legal plan benefit. The base plan provides coverage for 100+ essential legal services for employees, their spouses and dependents. For additional coverage that includes up to 8 parents and grandparents (biological, adoptive, in-laws, etc.) for select coverages, you can opt to enroll in the Plus Parents benefit. Once enrolled, you are committing to 12 months of premium payment on the plan you select.

The higher-premium plan is intended for employees who want the most robust coverage possible. Our more affordable plan provides essential legal services for employees seeking a basic benefits option. Once enrolled, you are committing to 12 months of premium payment on the plan you select.
Tax Preparation and Filing
To support your financial wellness, MetLife partners with TurboTax® to offer enrollees tax preparation and filing services annually at no additional cost. With the tax benefit, members can prepare and file one individual or joint federal and state tax return with using the TurboTax online. TurboTax Live and extra add-on services are available for an additional fee. If the prefers to prepare and file their taxes by working with a TurboTax professional, the legal plan will provide a discount in the amount of the appropriate online product value.
Register on the website, members.legalplans.com and navigate to the “Debt Matters” section where you will see a link to the TurboTax benefit. The benefit cannot be applied to previously completed TurboTax filings. TurboTax is not a corporate affiliate of MetLife Legal Plans.
Getting started is easy. You simply choose an attorney in any area of practice from our network, which is available online or via one of our call center representatives. Provide your name and your employer’s name to the attorney when you make an appointment. It’s that simple.
You can speak to our network attorneys face-to-face or by phone, or you can email legal questions online to our Attorney e-Panel and receive an answer within 24 hours. And for certain legal matters, your attorney can represent you in court without you having to make an appearance.

Yes, you can use any attorney you’d like. If you choose an attorney outside of our network, we’ll reimburse you for covered services based on a set fee schedule.4
Yes, you have unlimited use of the plan over the course of the year for covered legal matters.5
Less than you might think. For less than a dollar a day, you have our legal experts on your side for as long as you need them. You can find the exact cost for your plan in the enrollment materials provided by your employer.
